Aesthetic Meditation
"aesthetic meditation"—looking at objects with a concentrated focus. Experience your own mental and emotional response to the
object you are looking at. At the same time, refrain from naming, categorizing, or describing it. In other words by not comparing or
associating the object to something else in your mind you maximize direct experience.
Just let the thoughts come in and go right out again, while "feeling into" the object. This is aesthetic meditation.
Looking at a painting or the trees and plants in a local park...
This radiance, the perception of beauty, is regarded as a communication of the hidden power behind the world, shining through
in some physical form. I find this approach to viewing and embracing very interesting.
What if in yoga and meditation we should be doing instead is opening ourselves to the ravishing beauty of life and the universe?
What if the stillness we crave comes as a gift from that beauty?
1. Find something of natural beauty near to you. A park or field.
2. Allow yourself the time to sit and 'connect' with the object/place.
3. As you connect draw into yourself the universal energy around you.
4. Embrace your third eye and feel the connection of your higher self and the natural energy around you.
5. Channel this energy into your emotional core.
6. When you are ready to withdraw from the meditation pull your energies back from the connections.
This meditation is simple and effective. requires little time to prepare and can be done anywhere.
