The little things
The Reasons:
To be Healthy in Mind, Body and Soul. Simple to achieve. Or is it?
We all know we should lead healthier better lives and our good intentions are often put to one side for the sake of convenience and simplicity.
A healthier lifestyle leads to better fitness, lower risk of health issues including diabetes and heart problems. Lower medicals bills (visits)
How do we change ourselves without sacrificing too much of our time or taking too much effort?
A step by step approach to changing our lifestyle can be taken. Make changes one at a time and we give ourselves time to get used to these changes.
The 7 steps we have put together are flexible and interchangeable and can be done in No particular order of importance. Your Choice Your Way.
The Step-by-Steps:
1. Diet
We nearly all have attempted a diet at some point in our lives. Whatever method of food control you find that works for you we have simply one piece of advice. Everything nutritional is good in moderation but try and stay away from junk food and adding sauces to your food. These are high in fat and other ingredients the body cannot process easily so stores this as fat which is hard to remove.
Seek proper guidance for a healthy sensible diet such as weight watchers(tm) or from magazines and programs. It is important to consult a doctor if you have any medical conditions that require special consideration and you follow the diet actively by your own choice.
2 Exercise
No program of healthy living is complete without some form of exercise. This doesn't have to be all-consuming every day but it has to be part of your life at least 30 minutes each time perhaps 3 to 4 times per week. Beginners should start easy with walking and gentle exercise. Exercise is also age-related – don't overdo it!! Always stretch a little before basic exercise to avoid injury or strain.
More advanced exercise involves fast walking, running, zumba or fitness routines from TV. Those serious with the exercise can join a local gym and have a routine prepared by a fitness instructor (recommended).
3 Attitude
No program of personal change comes without a strong mental attitude to continue with it even during times of stress or when their just isn't enough time in the day. Make time and see the results :)
4 Health
Existing medical conditions and unkown medical conditions present stumbling blocks on the way. Please seek guidance from a trained medical professional where necessary. In general however, your routine and program should be tailored to reflect personal circumstances.
5 Spirituality
Since I embraced Spirituality as a way of life I have noticed substantial positive changes with my physical health, mental balance, reduced stress levels and a positive work/life balance.
6 Companions
If at all possible don't do this alone. A support system of friends or family can make all the difference as you try to change. Seek out help from others who are willing to support your change and be a positive encouragement
7 The little things
its easy to forget the little things. Snacks between meals? Cutting exercise short? Eating junk food rather than healthier meals?
We all do it and it adds up over time.
I find that drinking more water and keeping active with work or activities helps me to fill gaps in my day. Less gaps less boredom. Less boredom less time to worry.
This is how we try and do it. Its not easy. We don't stick to this all the time but we make an effort and that is what counts.
The Outcome:
By following this advice generally we believe you will have a happier, healthier life and notice sustained improvements in Mind, Body and Soul.
It is important to recognize that everyone is different and you should adapt this plan to your own special circumstances. It is important to take the first step on your journey of change. Seek out ideas and information that can help you adapt better and quicker.
